A Little Bit About Old Fashioned Church

 

Old Fashioned Church is just a plain old time type church with a few modern twist. We believe that we are old fashioned not by our style, or religious practices but we are old-fashioned because we still believe that the Bible is the true word of God, that Jesus Christ is the way to salvation and without him, there is no salvation for mankind. We believe in respect, loving, caring and compassion.

 

Our church is small and we do our best to know everyone and care for everyone together as a church family. In 2016 our average attendance has been 105 people in our morning worship service and approximately 50 in our other meetings.

 

We love to sing and play music. We do not construct a show each week for people to view. We come together as a group each week and just see how the LORD is going to use us to bless each other. We all sing whether good or bad as we believe that we should all make a joyful noise to the LORD. We love to sing hymns, bluegrass, country and more modern when we can.

 

We are a very casual church with absolutely no dress code. We just ask that you please wear some clothes. The preachers sometimes wear a tie but most of the time they preach in blue jeans and if they just come in from work still in a law enforcement uniform.

 

The preachers are not paid to preach and they do not receive a salary for their ministry. Some may view that as good and bad. Good that it doesn’t take money away from the ministry of the church but bad because the preachers do not listen to what the congregation thinks is popular. They preach what they believe is the word of the LORD each week. Each of the preachers has their own style and are different from each other. They believe they are unique and there is no need to try to be like someone else.

 

The majority of the people carry a KJV version Bible but others of our church family carry other versions that they prefer, we respect your choice. We have several adult teachers that are just as diverse as the preachers with their style. They consist of both male and female teachers.

 

We understand that the word of God is living word and that it speaks to each of us in our hearts. We understand that everyone sees the word of God differently and know that each of us will stand before God and give an account of how we handled the word. Therefore we will not debate or argue over the word as we all have our understanding. If you disagree with us that is ok, there is still a place for you in our church family.

 

We have a children’s ministry where our children learn about the Bible in a fun and exciting way so that they learn to know and love Jesus at a young age. There is a very capable and highly trained security staff on site at Old Fashioned Church each service to ensure that your children are able to learn in a safe environment.

 

Our midweek service is a free supper and open discussion forum where we learn about the word and ourselves. We have some music and a children’s ministry, Mimi’s Corner, where the children learn more about Jesus.

 

We don’t belong to an association where we have to report to a group of men about how much our offering was and how many attended. We believe that your giving is between us and God and no business of anyone else. We major on the word, not the money.

 

We don’t care where you have been or what you have done. We know that the church is not a museum of saints but a hospital of broken humans who need a savior. We depend on his goodness as we strive to reflect his light to a darkened world.

 

We are just a messed up people coming together to serve an awesome God.

 

 

 

 

What We Believe

 

We believe in the verbal  inspiration and authority of the Old and New Testaments and the Bible as the only rule for faith and practice.  We believe that the Bible reveals God, the fall of man, the way of salvation, and God’s plan and purpose for the ages.

 

We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

 

We believe in the Deity and Virgin Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, wherein He now intercedes for all believers.

 

We believe in the pre-tribulation rapture of all believers, the pre-millennial return, and millennial reign of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We believe in the two judgments- the Judgment seat of Christ and the Great White Throne.

 

We believe that salvation is by grace plus or minus nothing.  The conditions to salvation are repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.  We believe that man is sinful and is thereby separated from God.  His justified by faith alone and accounted righteous before God only through the merit or our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

 

We believe in the reality of a literal heaven and hell.  The resurrection of both the saved and the lost;  the saved unto the resurrection of life, and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

 

We believe in the local church as God's autonomous institution of regenerate, immersed believers practicing the two scriptural ordinances- immersion and the Lord's Supper;  the responsibility of every believer to live a holy life and to witness to the lost of the saving power of Christ; and the carrying out of the Great Commission.
